Saving the Environment!

Bikes are an excellent way to save the environment! More specifically, by choosing your bike over your car you are saving the planet from the harmful fumes your vehicle produces. While riding your bike you have no carbon footprint. If everyone were to switch to riding their bike even just most of the time, this would drastically reduce our carbon footprint. Additionally, cars produce about 271g of CO2 per kilometer, and although by taking bus cuts that number down to about 101g of CO2 per kilometer, choosing to riding your bike amounts to 0g no matter how long you ride it!

Biking is a great way to get exercise!

While biking you are burning lots of calories! After just 30 minutes of leisurely biking you burn roughly 125 calories. That doesn't even include going up hills or pedaling hard to go fast. Those variables can increase your calorie burn up to over 300 calories in 30 minutes.

Riding a bike is a lot more cost effective than driving a car.

Taking your bike to work or just your everyday transportation can save you lots of money. Sure you have to pay for it and pay for it to get maintained if it needs to be. However, so does every vehicle. For a bike you can get a good everyday bike for about 500 bucks. This will then last you at least 10 years unless its left outside all the time. Although, even if the bike is left in the elements it still can get totally repaired for about 150. Whereas when buying a car that's at least 20 grand depending on whether you buy it new or how nice of a car you get. Additionally car parts are way more expensive. If you need to replace bike brake pads its about 5 bucks, car pads are roughly 50.
